Vent windows

It's 90 degrees today, and the '60 doesn't have air conditioning. But it does have vent windows.  Vents are the most bitchin' pieces of glass you can have in a truck, except maybe for a split rear window. Crack one of them open just a little, and the airstream sucks cigarette smoke out.  Shove them open all the way, and you've got a delicious breeze in the cab even at low speeds.  I still can't figure out why they quit putting vent windows in cars.

  1. because airconditioning works way better WAY better...it's not as much fun...but you stay cooler! I miss the wing vents only when it's cool enough out to want to have the windows down.

  2. AC is no reason to take the windows away, though. My old '70 had both.

  3. Oh I agree with that Dave, I liked having both...but the automakers who know more than you and I ( at least by their standards)..declared that the wing vents were expendable...Maybe if they brought them back car sales might pick up again. I yell at em...but they don't seem to listen!

  4. From what I recall hearing, it's because it made cars very easy to break into. Not sure how true that is. Apparently prying open a vent window is easy to do and then you can unlock the door.
